Dear Guests, we are so glad that we are able to open again from 4th July, it seems a long time since we were forced to shut our doors in such sad circumstances.  However the wait is nearly over and we are looking forward to welcoming people into The Angel Inn once again.

If you are thinking of making a reservation with us we wanted to make you aware of a few alterations to the usual way that we work in advance so nothing came as a shock to you when you arrive to stay.   We’ll be following all of the rules and regulations that the government has put in place when we open, but you’re guaranteed the warmest of welcomes when you come and see us.  So here goes……

Before You Stay
We recommend that you make any restaurant reservations as soon as you book your room and definitely prior to your visit to ensure that you are able to dine with us.  If you have any special requirements or requests please contact us before you are due to arrive if possible.   We are also giving you the option to pay in full before you arrive to speed up your check out procedure, simply get in touch if you wish to do so or you are encouraged to do this at any time during your stay to avoid congestion at checkout.

On Arrival
Check in time is from 2.30 onwards to ensure that we have adequate time to deep clean and air all rooms.

When checking in we are trying to make the whole process as quick and easy as possible, we will not be requiring you to sign on your arrival as usual and we will be asking you for your car registration so you do not have to write it down.  You will be given your key and directed to your room.

Hand sanitiser stations are in place at entry points and around the building and we encourage you to use these regularly in addition to regular hand washing.

Guest Bedrooms
We always clean our guest bedrooms to a high standard but we will be extra vigilant during these times.  Complimentary bottles of hand sanitiser will be provided in your room and more will be available for purchase during your stay.  We ask that when you want your room servicing during your stay that you use your ‘please service our room’ door hanger so that our housekeeping staff know that you are ready for them to enter your room.  If you would rather your room wasn’t serviced during your stay let us know and we can just provide you with fresh towels, tea, coffee etc

Contactless Payment
We will be unable to accept cash payments for the immediate future and will be encouraging all guests to use contactless or a mobile device whenever possible.  Current contactless limit is £45 and there is no limit on a mobile device.  Chip and pin payments are still possible.

Unlike usual, during your stay you will be unable to charge food or drink to your room as you will be unable to sign for anything.  We are sorry about this inconvenience but please can you have a payment method with you at all times.

Bar, Restaurant and Lounges
All seating areas in our bar, lounges and restaurant have been configured to ensure safe distancing is maintained in line with current government guidance.  Because of the small amount of flexibility in moving tables we will  have a maximum table size of 8 people from 2 households and will find it difficult to accommodate prams in the bar, restaurant or lounge areas.   If you have a room reservation we assume you are from 2 households unless you tell us otherwise. Tables, chairs and other surfaces will be sanitised after each use.

To assist with social distancing, we request all residents only use their bedroom toilet facilities wherever possible. All public facilities will be available for non-resident guests and will be subject to current social distancing guidelines and regular cleaning.

Appropriate signage will be in place across all public areas reminding guests of any specific guidelines. All guests are encouraged to take time to familiarise themselves with the regulations in place.

Cleaning and Hygiene Procedures
Where necessary appropriate personal protective equipment will be worn by all team members and changed frequently.
All touch points in public areas such as door handles, counter tops, table tops, soft seating etc. will be sanitised throughout the day
Protocols are in place for staff in our kitchens, restaurants and bar to sanitise their hands every time they serve food or touch food related items.

Social Distancing
We remind all guests to follow government guidelines on social distancing. We are making every effort to make your environment safe and reserve the right to control social distancing within our properties. Guests breaching our policies will be reminded of their responsibilities and any individuals persistently disregarding social distancing may be required to leave the property with immediate effect.

Moving Forward
We will be constantly monitoring the government guidelines and updating our policies as required.

If you are looking to book over New Year 2020 we can only take these reservations over the telephone.  All New Year reservations are a minimum stay of 3 nights.

After a day on the hills or a night on the town why not retreat to your own comfortable haven in our beautiful Lakeland Inn. There are 13 ensuite bedrooms available that are all individually styled with all the facilities that the modern day traveller expects, flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary toiletries and wireless internet. Our rooms come in a variety of different shapes and sizes and some have Lake Views.  Whilst staying with us at The Angel you also receive free usage of our car park.

Residents Breakfast

Breakfast is always included when coming to stay with us at The Angel Inn, served for our residents every morning from 8.30am until 10.00am, this is many peoples favourite part of their stay. Served in our restaurant each day, start with tea or coffee and toast, then choose from our buffet selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, and juices. Then on to the main event of our Full Cumbrian Breakfast or if you prefer you can have a lighter option. Special Occasions

Is your stay an extra special occasion, a birthday, an anniversary, just to say I love you, a proposal even?  If so then let us help; we can arrange flowers, champagne, balloons or chocolates in your room. Just let us know your requirements and our staff will be only too happy to help. If you have any other requests please do not hesitate to ask and we will do our upmost to help.


The quickest, easiest and cheapest way to make a reservation is online where you can find all of our latest prices and availability.  We do not deal with any third party booking sites so this is the only place to find our latest and best prices. You can also book by telephone but the prices may be higher, if you prefer to contact us by phone then please use our telephone number, our reservations department is open 7 days a week from 9.00am until 7.00pm

Group Bookings

For the benefit of all of our guests we do not take group reservations of more than 3 rooms together. We reserve the right to refuse your booking if we believe it is part of a larger group, even if you book separately.

Please note we do not allow pets of any kind to stay in our bedrooms at The Angel Inn even though we do allow dogs in our front lounges to eat and drink.
